166 STATIONS HAVE SWITCHED
AS OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20!

This map tracks stations that have made the switch to AMC-21.

This map depicts all stations in the Public TV Interconnection System. The dots designating stations will turn from red to green when PBS is notified that a station has made the switch from AMC-3 or AMC-1 to AMC-21. Please NOTE: Some of the dots do not seem to place the station in the correct geographical location until you zoom in to the point of seeing the street layout. This is part of the map and PBS cannot change the atributes that cause the problem. The map may also take some time to load, depending on browsers and computers in use. Please be patient. THANK YOU - The NGIS Team.

AMC-21 FACTS AND PLANS --

  • AMC-21 is now available for use by PTV stations. Join the crowd. Switch now!!
  • The orbital location is 125 Degrees West Longitude.

Information about "Center of Box" predictions is now posted in Reference Materials
  • There is parallel service on the transponders of AMC-3 and on the new transponders of AMC-21 through the end of November 2008. There can be no extensions because SES Americom will take back the transponders on AMC-3 on November 30, 2008.
  • The same transponder numbers (T21 - T 24) are being used on AMC-21 as are on the AMC-3 Ku-Band satellite. Check the HERE for specific service assignment information on those transponders. There are additional changes happening in November. The service assignment charts give you the information!

  • The polarities of the transponders do not change. Horizontal and Vertical transponders are identical to AMC-3.

  • ALL STATIONS will need to repoint their dishes in October or, at the latest, in early November. The PTV programming available on the C-Band satellite, AMC-1, will change at the end of the AMC-21 transition also.
